LIVE BIRD AND NEST REMOVAL
BIRDS IN THE CHIMNEY: SAFE, LEGAL AND RESPONSIBLE REMOVAL
Chimneys are common spots where birds either choose to build nests or, unfortunately, sometimes get trapped. Among the most frequent nest builders are jackdaws, which are known to create their homes inside chimneys. Once these birds decide to settle, their nests can quickly block the flue, potentially causing ventilation problems and safety concerns for your home.
It’s important to note that bird nests are protected by law, especially during the breeding and nesting season, which runs from February through July. During this period, removing nests is generally prohibited to protect the birds and their young. In compliance with these regulations, our policy is to avoid removing any live nests or nests that are likely to become active during these months. We aim to balance the protection of wildlife with the safety and functionality of your chimney.
In contrast, pigeons are more likely to fall into chimneys accidentally rather than build nests inside them. Since pigeon nests inside chimneys are uncommon and not protected by the same nesting laws, we can safely remove pigeons and clear any obstructions caused by them at any time of the year. This ensures that your chimney remains safe and free from blockages without disrupting protected bird populations.
If you suspect birds are nesting or trapped in your chimney, it’s important to seek professional advice to handle the situation responsibly and legally. We are experienced in assessing and addressing these issues while respecting wildlife laws and ensuring your chimney functions properly year round.
